Archaeological artifacts copying for Carla Lake Museum

3D printing is a common technique in many archaeological museums worldwide. By using 3D printed artifacts, original archaeological findings are protected. Also, some times the original findings are broken and by using 3D printing technology we can recreatethem.

3D-Printing Solutions supports the whole replication process by modeling the artifacts, printing and post-processing them in order to exibit them. We used our last tech large scale 3d printer, BigRep ONE!

Below you can see the steps we followed at a project we made for lake Karla Museum at Thessaly.

  • At first we visited the museum of paleontology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. There,we scanned the ancient bones.
  • We made the scanned files printable.
  • We made the slicing procedure, for optimal printing results.
  • We printed antelope’s skull
  • We ‘ve done all the necessery post processing  for the skull to be like the original one.
  • Final, the 3D printed skull is ready for the museum.

The 3D-printed artifacts project for Karla Museum consists of many more artifacts that you can discover below.
